Sleep in a snow cave

A magical night in Myrkdalen Ski resort

Sleep in a magical snow cave in Myrkdalen ski resort with a guide from Wild Voss. We’ve dug a spacious snow cave perfect for families or smaller groups who would like an extraordinary winter experience. In our solid snow lodging we are comfortably sheltered even if the outside weather is cold and windy. Equipped with warm sleeping bags, candles and hot drinks we promise you a cosy atmosphere inside the snow cave.

The trips starts with pre-arranged transportation of both people and equipment from Myrkdalen Hotel to the top of the ski resort. Outside the snow cave, we hope that the weather allows us to enjoy a bonfire under the starry winter skies before settling for a night in the snow cave. Next morning we pack up and descend the groomed slopes either on foot or on skis. We enjoy a tasty breakfast together in the restaurant called Nuten in Myrkdalen Hotel.

Who may join this trip?

This trip does not require any particular skills in skiing or winter «friluftsliv». You need to be healthy, have proper winter clothing and warm boots. If you like spending time outside in the snow, you’ll love this. Open for kids aged 3 or older, when accompanied by parents or next of kin.

Why should you join a guided night in a snow cave?

Spending a night in a snow cave isn’t particularly difficult, once it’s completed. The construction, however, takes time and needs careful considerations. Handling the winter mountains is a craft. Our guides have years of experience from trips through demanding winter mountains, and know how to prepare for a comfortable night’s sleep in a snow cave. Who knows, maybe this trip will enable you to spend a night in your own snow cave later some day!
